Manchester - home of languages

The Instituto Cervantes in Manchester plays an important role in the lives of our students. It hosts a vibrant programme of events and provides opportunities for students to engage with Spanish and Latin American culture. 

The Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art works with a wide range of partners to put on a lively and refreshing programme of exhibitions, festival and talks.

The Contact Theatre collaborates with the University to host the annual Palaver Festival, which explores the ties between language and the arts, from dance and music composition to drama and literature.

All of our undergraduate students will be given the opportunity to learn an additional language in their own time or as part of their degree through our Languages Experience for All programme.

The Alliance Francaise has a modern and welcoming language hub in the heart of Manchester where you can watch a film, join a book club and feel part of a worldwide network.

We collaborate with Manchester's newest and most impressive arts centre, Home, to create the annual ¡Viva! Spanish and Latin American Film Festival.
